Kalady village is formed from the old Manickamangalam Village. Kalady is the Birth Place Of Adi Sri Sankaracharya. Village Office is situated just 350 m from the birth place of Sri Snakrachyarya.The River Periyar is flowing through the south of village.

Kalady or Kaladi is a town located between Angamaly and Perumbavoor, east of the Periyar river, near to Malayattoor in Ernakulam district of Kerala, India, not far from Cochin International Airport.Kalady Pin code is 683574 and postal head office is Kalady . Kanjoor ( 3 KM ) , Thuravoor ( 4 KM ) , Angamali ( 5 KM ) , Manjapra ( 5 KM ) , Koovappady ( 5 KM ) are the nearby Villages to Kalady. Kalady is surrounded by Koovappady Block towards East , Vazhakkulam Block towards South , Parakkadav Block towards west , Chalakkudy Block towards North .

Socio-Economic

Kalady is mainly inhabitated by upper middle class.There are few NRI families located in Northern and Eastern part of Kalady . Besides them poor and lower middle class families are also located in heart of the town.

Kalady is known for cultivation of nutmeg and its sale.The area is mostly flat with absence of hills.The North - Eastern part of the town in under flood prone area.The land is mostly fertile with availability of water resources

Tourism

Birth place of Sri Sanakaracharya One of the most famous pilgrim center of India. Also the grand Sree Ramakrishna Temple is situated at Kalady.
