About Village

The village land boundary is situated 4 km north of Kannur railway station. Village office building is located at Pallikunnu on National Highway 66, east of the road, near Krishna Menon Memorial Government College. The Village office is situated on the top floor of a two-storeyed building, while the Puzhathi office is situated downstairs. Puzhathi village in the Chirakkal taluk of old Malabar district was divided and Pallikunnu village was formed by including Pallikunnu and Chalad lands.

Demography

According to the 2011 census, the total population of Pallikunnu village is 27831 including 15089 females and 12742 males, including people involved in various religious beliefs.

Geography

The total land area covering the village which includes two deshams- Pallikunnu and Chalad is 684 .607 ha. It comes under the Kannur Taluk neighboring with villages including Puzhathi, Chirakkal, Kannur-2 and Azhikode South bordering the west side with the Arabian Sea. The railway line spanning from Kannur to Mangalore passes through the village extremities.

Socio-Economic

Socially and economically average people live in the village. Affluence is averaged around the middle point. People include daily-workers, farmers, NRIs, small traders and government employees are among these.

Ecology

Majority of the area in the village includes residential areas and fallow fields.

Tourist spots are quite diverse in Pallikunnu, going all the way from sea sides locations including Payyambalam beach, amazing wholesome food destinations to savor and holy locations including Pallikunnu Mookambika Temple, Kunnavu jaladurga Temple, Kaanathoor Mahavishnu Temple and Chalad Juma-Masjid. Overall a pretty reminiscent, alluring and pleasing destination.
