About Village

Koipuram Village is situated in Tiruvalla Taluk of Pathanamthitta District, in Kerala State, India. It is spread on north and south sides of Thiruvalla- Kozhencherry road. It is situated south to Puramattom village of Mallappally Taluk, west to Thottappuzhasserry village and east to Eraviperoor village. To the south of the village is Pamba river This village is in Koipuram Panchayath and comes under Aranmula assembly & Pathanamthitta parliamentary constituency. Total area of the village is 2263.5095 hectors and has a population 26425 as per Census 2011.Considering both area and population it is the largest village in Tiruvalla Taluk.

Demography

Koipuram village has population 26425 of which 12231 are male and 14194 are female as per Census 2011. Also literacy rate of this village is 97.31 % which is very high as compared to that of Kerala. More than 20 schools are there in this village. One of the school is Noel memorial school which is founded by a british person named Noel before Independence.

Geography

Most parts of the village are plains,also there is paddy land and hilly places . Since Pamba river is the southern bounary and most of the southern part of the village are wet lands this village is also affected by flood during rainy season

Socio-Economic

Kumbanad in Koipuram village is known as NRI village and also almost all banks have branches in Kumbanad. Hence most of the population belongs to upper class. But as a whole it is a mixed population. Most part of income is from NRI members and also from business. Also agriculture and related activities are there.

Ecology

PIP canal is going through the village and to the south of the village is Pamba river. These are the main sources of water for agriculture. Rubber, Plantain, Tapioca, Paddy , Cocunut etc are the main cultivations here.

Tourism

Kumbanad which is famous for IPC Hebronpuram , headquarters of Indian Pentecostal Church of God and NRI village is in Koipuram. The famous Maramon convention is conducted in the nearby village just 4 kms away from this village. Also Aranmula vallamkali happens in Pamba river which is the south boundary of Koipuram. Four of the chundanvallams, Poovathoor, Varayannoor, Nellikkal and Koipuram , participating in Aranmula vallamkali are from this village.
