About Village

Elanji Village is situated in the south east of Ernakulam District and comprises 2949.3005 Hectares. The village lies about 42 km southeast of Kochi and there are a number of buses that ply between Pala and Ernakulam, which connects Elanji with Kochi. Elanji is almost the mid-way point on the Vaikom–Thodupuzha bus route. Elanji lies about 32 km east of Kottayam town. There is a Panchayath bus stand in the heart of the Elanji town itself. Elanji is located in Ernakulam district

Demography

As of 2001 census, Elanji had a population of 16,995 with 8,455 males and 8,540 females.

Geography

Elanji is almost the mid-way point on the Vaikom–Thodupuzha bus route. The taluk headquarters is at Muvattupuzha which is 27 km away.

Socio-Economic

The majority of people living in Elanji are Syro Malabar Catholic Christians. Most inhabitants are engaged in agriculture, farming and trading, with the main cash crops being rubber, paddy, coconut, areca nut, ginger, turmeric, kacholam and pepper.

Ecology

Elanji is an agricultural village with hills and plains. It is a beautiful place with a wide range agricultural areas,streams,MVIP canal.

Tourism

Koorumala Eco Tourism Project is the main tourist place in Elanji Village.Koorumala is a tourist spot located 2 km away from Elanji and 9 km away from Piravom in Ernakulam district of Kerala. It is a beautiful view point up a moderately steep slope. Best time to visit this place is morning and evening so that you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and watch the perfect sunrise and sunset.
