Koothattukulam village is located in Muvattupuzha Tehsil of Ernakulam district in Kerala, India. It is situated 20 km away from sub-district headquarter Muvattupuzha and 42km away from district headquarter Kakkanad. The total geographical area of village is 2313 hectares.

Koothattukulam is a large village with total 4470 families residing. The Koothattukulam village has population of 17253 of which 8384 are males while 8869 are females as per Population Census 2011.

Geography

Koothattukulam is a town and municipality situated in Muvattupuzha Taluk, towards the south east corner of Ernakulam district in Kerala State, South India. It lies at the junction of three districts: Ernakulam, Kottayam and Idukki, and covers an area of 2318.71 hectares.

Socio-Economic

Sreedhareeyam Eye Hospital and Research Centre is in Koothattukulam. Most people are engaged in agriculture, farming and trading. The main cash crops are: rubber, paddy, coconut, areca nut, ginger, turmeric, kacholam and pepper.

Ecology

Koothattukulam is located in the foothills of the Western Ghats and is included in the areas forming Keezhmalanad.
