Socio-Economic
Population mainly consists of Hindus, Muslims and nominally Christians. Scheduled cast population is 2%. No scheduled tribes. Most of the people are daily wage workers. They are engaging in fishing, coolie works. A good portion of the population depends upon the gulf economy. Main cultivation is coconut plantation and some relies upon banana plantain and tapioca.
Ecology
Village shares boundaries with Mahe river and Arabian sea. No ecologically fragile areas located in the village. Mangroves are seen in Kakkadav area.
Tourism
River bank and seashore are attractive tourism destinations. Some tourism development project work i.e a boat jetty is under construction in Kakadav area of Mahe river.
