Eramala is a village in Kozhikode district, Kerala, India. Orkkatteri is the main town in the village The village is also home to a popular annual celebration called Orkkatteri Chantha

Demography

Eramala is a Census Town city situated in Vadakara taluka of Kozhikode district. As per the Population Census 2011, there are total 7,722 families residing in the Eramala city. The total population of Eramala is 34,658 out of which 15,858 are males and 18,800 are females thus the Average Sex Ratio of Eramala is 1,186. The population of Children of age 0-6 years in Eramala city is 3805 which is 11% of the total population. There are 1899 male children and 1906 female children between the age 0-6 years. Thus as per the Census 2011 the Child Sex Ratio of Eramala is 1,004 which is less than Average Sex Ratio (1,186). As per the Census 2011, the literacy rate of Eramala is 94.8%. Thus Eramala has lower literacy rate compared to 95.1% of Kozhikode district. The male literacy rate is 97.47% and the female literacy rate is 92.68% in Eramala.
