Panniyannur Village Office is located at Champad on the Thalassery - Panoor State Highway. The total area of the village is 2482.41 acres. The socio-cultural history of Kerala dates back to the medieval Kottayam dynasty. In the early part of the twentieth century, most of the village was under the control of the Nambians in four houses. Govt. ITI and Chotavoor Higher Secondary School are the major educational institutions. Panoor Block Office, a major local body, is located at Panniyannur Village. Famous writers K. Panur and K. Thayatt lived in Panniyannur village. Panniyannur Village is the birthplace of many well-known college students. The noble families of Chandroth, Kamprath, Kunnummal, Kizhakadathu, Kiral Kuloth, Kottakunnummal, Manayil and Ezhikkar also ruled here.
