Palayad village is situated in Maniyur Panchayath .Maniyur is a Census Town city situated in Vadakara taluka of Kozhikode district. As per the Population Census 2011, there are total 5,159 families residing in the Maniyur city. The total population of Maniyur is 21,820 out of which 10,244 are males and 11,576 are females thus the Average Sex Ratio of Maniyur is 1,130. The population of Children of age 0-6 years in Maniyur city is 2260 which is 10% of the total population. There are 1138 male children and 1122 female children between the age 0-6 years. Thus as per the Census 2011 the Child Sex Ratio of Maniyur is 986 which is less than Average Sex Ratio (1,130). As per the Census 2011, the literacy rate of Maniyur is 94.7%. It is located 43 KM towards North from District head quarters Kozhikode. 6 KM from Thodannur. 433 KM from State capital Thiruvananthapuram
