Pallassana Village is located in Chittur Taluk of Palakkad district in the State of Kerala. India. The name Pallassana refers to the fact that the group historically constituted the Pallava Sena or the Pallava Army, which eventually morphed into Pallassana or Pallasena, as it is known today.
Demography
According to the Census of 2011, Pallassana has a total population of 23,581 peoples, out of which 11718 are males and 11863 are females. There are about 5,457 houses in Pallassana village.
Geography
The total geographical area of village is 2937 hectares. Pallassana villages comes under Nemmara Assembly Constituency and Alathur Parliamentary Constituency. Chittur is nearest town to Pallassana which is approximately 18 km away. It is beside the river Gayatri, one of the tributaries of Bharatapuza.
Socio-Economic
Pallassana Village is a rural area characterized by agriculture and allied activities. The majority of the people are farmers and agricultural labourers. Paddy is the main crop cultivated in the area.
Ecology
Lion share of the area is is covered with paddy fields, well irrigated with the help of irrigation projects like Malampuzha Project, Chittur River Project and Meenkara Project.
Tourism
Pallassana is a very beautiful village beside the river Gayatri, one of the tributaries of Bharatapuza. It is primarily notable for being the location of the Meenkulathi Temple (Pazhayakavu). Karumala is another attraction in Pallassana. Pallassana is famous for the Onathallu or Avittathallu, a festival celebrated by the natives of Pallassana Desham. The festival is a tradition followed by the natives of the region in commemoration of the numerous wars they led and fought as part of the army of the Kolathiris.
