About Village

Thuneri is a village in Vadakara Taluk, Kozhikode district in the Indian state of Kerala. It is located about 17 km north of Vadakara town. It is one of the five Desams of the old Kurumpranad taluk.

Demography

Thuneri is a Census Town city situated in Vadakara taluka of Kozhikode district. As per the Population Census 2011, there are total 5,212 families residing in the Thuneri city. The total population of Thuneri is 23,421 out of which 10,693 are males and 12,728 are females thus the Average Sex Ratio of Thuneri is 1,190. The population of Children of age 0-6 years in Thuneri city is 2945 which is 13% of the total population. There are 1498 male children and 1447 female children between the age 0-6 years. Thus as per the Census 2011 the Child Sex Ratio of Thuneri is 966 which is less than Average Sex Ratio (1,190). As per the Census 2011, the literacy rate of Thuneri is 91.5%. Thus Thuneri has lower literacy rate compared to 95.1% of Kozhikode district. The male literacy rate is 96.1% and the female literacy rate is 87.7% in Thuneri.

Geography

Thuneri village connects to other parts of India through Vatakara city on the west and Kuttiady town on the east.

The Village situates in rural area. Agriculture is the main source of livelihood of the Village people.
