Puthukkai is a village in Kasargod District of Kerala state in India. It is a rural village of Hosdurg taluk located 8km from Kanhangad town towards east.

Demography

Puthukkai constitutes Kanhangad Muncipality. As of Indian census of 2011, Puthukkai had a population of 7322 people. Puthukkai has an average literacy rate of 90%.

Geography

It lies at 12degree18min N 75degree 5.4min E in the geographic map of Kasargod. It has a varied topography with plain and hilly areas with red soil.

Socio-Economic

Since Puthukkai village located in a rural area, there are only a few government offices situated. Kerala Ceramics and Clay Company and Kendriya Vidyalaya are situated in this village.

Here a major portion of the population are farmers and labourers whereas so many military officials and government employees also belongs to this village Here the people speak in malayalam

Guruvanam , a beautiful hill temple and Ashram owned by Swami Nithyananda Ashram Public Trust , in Kanhangad Guruvanam (Guru’s Forest) is 5 Kms from the main Swami Nithyananda Ashram and is located in an area full of trees and green vegetation.
