MANAPPATTUCHIRA

Manappattuchira is a small lake located at Malayattoor, a Christian pilgrim center on the banks of the Periyar. The trees surrounding the lake give a greenish tinge to the water. Boating facilities are available. The lake is also known by the name Malayattoor Lake. KTDC Tourist Home, a hotel with all facilities for tourists, is on the shores of the lake. St Thomas Church and Sree Durga Bhagavathi Temple are nearby. Manappattuchira Lake is around 50 km from Kochi. Angamaly Railway Station is 17 km away.

St.Thomas Church,Malayattoor

The St Thomas Syro Malabar Catholic International Shrine, Malayattoor (or Malayatoor Church) is one of the eight international shrines in the world, situated in Malayattoor Angamaly, Ernakulam district of Kerala, India. The Malayatoor Church attracts many devotees from not just India, but from all over the world. The church is associated with the evangelisation activity St. Thomas the Apostle in Kerala.[1] The church here has been designated by the Vatican as one among the eight International shrines in the world.[2][3] It is believed that St. Thomas held prayer at the place where church is situated when he landed in Kerala. The hilltop church is located 15 km away from the town of Kalady. Malayattoor village is located in Aluva Tehsil of Ernakulam district in Kerala, India. It is situated 26km away from sub-district headquarter Aluva and 35km away from district headquarter Kakkanad.

Abhayaranyam ( elephants are trained ) is also near and is a place of interest.
