About Village

Mavilayi village is included in the Peralassery grama panchayath. It is a scenic area which comprise 5 desom namely Cherumavilayi, Olavil, Mavilayi, Mocheri and Pothuvachery. The historical festival called Adiyulsavam celebrate in Sree Mavilakavu Temple which is included in the village.

Demography

According to 2011 census, there are 11,953 people in Mavilayi village. It is a village with more women than men.

Geography

A section of the anjarakandy river flows through the southern boundary of the village. It is a rural area with paddy fields, hills, rivers and trees.

Socio-Economic

It is an area where people of different religions live together. This is an area of medium economic status. Beedi industries still exists in some parts of the village.

Ecology

The village is located about 30 km east of Kannur town. The Kannur- Kuthuparamb state highway passes through the village. A section of the Anjarakandy river flows through the southern boundary of the village. It is a rural area with paddy fields, hills, rivers and trees. The village office has 860.77 hectares of land.

There are no tourist areas within the village limit.
