About Village

Kannapuram Village is located on both sides of the Pappinisseri-Payangadi Road, Total extend is 14.39 Sq.km. Legend says that Kannapuram got its name from lord Sreekrishnas (Kannan) land that is Kannante puram - Kannapuram. There is another Legend Kannapuram got its name from the penance of lord. Kannua at Thrikkoth.

Demography

According to 2011 Census the total population is 18459 in which 46% are Male and 54% are Female. Literacy rate is 90.01%.

Geography

Kannapuram is a town near Cherukunnu in Kannur District of North Malabar region in the State of Kerala. The Village shares borders with Cherukunnu to the North, Kalliasseri to the South, Mattool to the West and Morazha and Pattuvam to the East.

There is no Caste and Creed discrimination in this Village. Temples Mosques and Churches are there in Kannapuram Village.

Ecology

Kannapuram is a place of natural beauty. The western and North Eastern parts are rich in Mangrove trees. The towering hills in the Eastern part maintain the balance of nature.

Annapoorneswari Temple is a famous Temple in North Kerala which is attracted by so may pilgrimages. The nearest Railway station is Kannapuram on the Mangalore-Palakkad line.
