Paravur village situated at Kannankulangara near St.Thomas Jacobite Christian Church and Kannankulangara Sree Krishna Temple.As it is the town village in Paravur taluk it is also known as "KASABA Village" which means centre of the town.Paravur Municipality is one of the oldest municipalities in the state.Paravur town is one of the cleanest towns in Kerala which have all the qualities to become a model town.Many eminent persons were natives of Paravur village. Paravur T K Narayanapillai, P. Kesavadev Kedamangalm Sadanandan, Kedamangalam Pappukutty Balachandran Chullikkad were among them.

Demography

It covers 1315 hectres of land. It is a densely populated village with population more than 50,000 people.Paravur village covers mainly Paravur Municipal Area.20 wards in Paravur Municipality,8 wards in Chittattukara Grama Panchayath and 7 wards in Ezhikkara Grama panchayath come under Paravur village.

Geography

It covers most of the Paravur town area with Karumallur village at the east, Ezhikkara and Vadakkekkara villages at the west, Kottuvally village at the South and Chendamangalam village at the North.Main river flows through Paravur village is Paravur puzha which is a part of Periyar river.There are lot of natural canals flow through Paravur village. Most famous among them are Pashni thodu and Kala thodu.

Socio-Economic

In past most of the people of this village engaged in agriculture and related activities. Fishing , handloom weaving and coir manufacturing were another important sources of income for the people. A large number of families engaged in fire cracker business also.Now agriculture and allied activities are on a declining phase and more and more people shifted their occupation to construction field.

Paravur village is blessed with natural vegetation ,rivers , canals and ponds.

Tourism

Paravur is known for boat races. Thattukadavu vallamkali is a very famous one.Jews synagogue is another centre of tourist attraction.From Thattukadavu boat jetty Tourism department conducts various trips to connect different places of historical importance.Buildings like Paravur court complex and Paravur Market also have some historical importance.Famous places of worships like Dakshina Mookambi Temple, St.Thomas Church, St.Thomas Jacobite Church,Pattalam Palli Juma masjid also situated here.One of the most beautiful beach in Kerala "Cherai Beach" is just 5 Kilometers away from Paravur town.Paravur Taluk Kachery buildings were build 100 years ago which still is the beauty spot of Paravur village.
