Varapuzha, (also known by its former name Verapoly) is a northern suburb of the city of Kochi. It is in Paravur Taluk, Ernakulam district in the Indian state of Kerala. Situated around 15 km (9 mi) from the city centre and 8 km (5 mi) from Edapally, the areas lies in the NH 66 connecting Vytilla with North Paravur.The formation of Varapuzha originated in old Travancore under kottayam Revenue division till 1949, then part of Trichur district of Thirukochi state and later become the part of Ernakulam district in 1958. Varapuzha village is separated from former Eloor village, in 1983.

Demography

As of 2011 India census, Varapuzha had a population of 26750. Males constitute 48% of the population and females 52%. Varapuzha has an average literacy rate of 84%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 85%, and female literacy is 83%. In Varapuzha, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age. Area of varapuzha village is 10.01 sq.km

Socio-Economic

Large scale paddy cultivating area is situating in western part of Varapuzha which is called Devaswampadam, specialised with Pokkali Paddy cultivation and interim crop as fish cultivation locally calleas "Kettu". The common work of the natives are fishing and agriculture

Varapuzha ecology is suitable for fishes , aquatic crustaceans and birds

Tourism

1.Thirumuppam Mahadeva temple is the one of the ancient Siva temple in Kerala. Temple was goverened by Uraazhama Devaswamboard. Lord Siva is the main Idol of this temple.2.
