About Village

The village office was inaugurated on 4th July 1986 by CV Padmarajan. MLA, In the presence of the District Collector SrI C.V.Anandabose IAS. The village office was functioned initially in a rented building, near the Poothakulam junction. Later Dr.Krishnan nair freely handed over 04.40 ares of land in Resurvey No 317/13 in block No 36 at Dr.Mukku in the Paravoor Paripally road. On 15th February 2019 hon’ble revenue minister Sri E.Chandrasekharan declared as a smart village office in the presence of Sri. G.S.Jayala MLA

Geography

The land area of the village is surrounded by Paravoor, Kottapuram, Chirakkara, Paripally villages in Kollam Taluk, and Edava village in Varkala Taluk. The Total area of the village is 1634.2 hector, and divided by 2 blocks 35 and 36. Edava-Nadaya lakes lies on the Southern and western boundaries of the village. The Kollam-Thiruvananthapuram railway line passes through western part of the village.

Socio-Economic

Paddy, Coconut and other intercrops are main source of livelihood for the people. There are no significant commercial and industrial enterprises. The population is consisting of hindus, muslims and Christian communities

Ecology

There is no pollution to the environment as there are no commercial and industrial establishment

Tourism

The western part of the village is adjacent to the Kappil beach. Edava-nadayara lakes is famous for backwater tourism
