PARATHODE VILLAGE IS ONE 18 VILLAGES UNDER UDUMBANCHOLA TALUK IN IDUKKI DISTRICT CAME INTO EXISTENCE ON 01/11/1956 DURING THE FORMATION OF KERALA STATE. BEFORE THAT IT WAS THE PART OF UDUMBANCHOLA VILLAGE

As per 2001 India census, Parathode village has a total population of 20417.
Geography
MOSTLY HILLTRACT AREA WITH TAMILNADU FOREST BOUNDARY. MOSTLY CULTIVATED SPICES LIKE CARDAMOM ,PEPPER ,COFFEE ETC. It is situated very near to sub-district headquarter Nedumkandam and 43 km away from district headquarter Painavu.
Socio-Economic
Various sections of Christianity, Hinduism and Muslims co-exist harmoniously. Income is mainly from Tourism and Cardamom Plantation.
