About Village

The Village is located in an ecologically fragile area so that more that 50% of the village is water locked. The place is good for tourism and is famous for its water friendly tourism. Also the natural beauty of the village is also a matter to explore which is a very rare piece of enjoyment. The famous Kallada Boat Race took place in the Kallada River flowing through the limits of this village.

Demography

In the village there are about 9500 people only as majority of the area is water locked. In this village people of various religion are living in fraternity. They are having a peaceful life and are mostly moderate families with minimum income.

Geography

The village shares its boundaries with East Kallada, West Kallada and Thevalakkara Villages. In the south is the Ashtamudi lake, Thevalakkara village in the west, West Kallada village and East Kallada Village in the North and East Kallada Village in the East as its boundaries. The famous Kallada River is flowing through the village.

Socio-Economic

The village is having a mixed socio-economic culture. Most of the people are having a moderate living style and are commonly daily labourers. There are no major industries or companies in this village. People belong to various caste and creed are living in harmony in this village.

Ecology

The village is having a very fragile ecology. As it is actually a delta formed by the Kallada river which were occupied by human beings later on. The major portion of the village is still under water and is water locked in all sides.

Tourism

The Village is famous as a tourist spot as the major part of the are is water front and there is ample chance for boating and other water games in the village. Besides the village has a very good natural beauty and it attracts lot of people. There are a lot of home stays supporting the tourism in this village.
