About Village

Pathaikkara is a small village in Perinthalmanna taluk. It comes under Perinthalmanna municipality. It is located 25 kilometres towards east from thre district head quarters and 3 kilometres from Perinthalmanna town. Though this village comes under urban area, the beautiful paddy fields, hill tracts and plantations can be seen here. The village famous for its remarks in Eitheehya Mala written by Kottarathil Shankunni. He had described about the abnormal activities done By Namboothiris at Pathaikkara Mana. Two brothers of this Mana simply lifted an elephent by hand upto a height of 10 feet. Many other exclamatory remarks had been made in that book. He has also mentioned about Thanneer Panthal where pedestrians get Sambaram from Pathaikkara Namboothiries.

Demography

Total population the village as per 2011 census is 25516 with literacy rate of more than 80 percentage.

Geography

There are four Desoms in the village viz, Pathaikkara, Kunnapally, Eravimangalam and Cherukara. Formerly this village was ruled by two Amsom adhikaris. One Eravimangalam amsom and other Pathaikkara amsom. Later it was amalgamated in Perinthalmanna 2 village and function at Perinthalmanna village in a seperate room. After that village office was constructed and the village renamed as Pathaikkara. It shares its boundary in the east with Thazhekode village and Anamangad village and in the south Anamangad and Elamkulam village, Perinthalmanna village boundaries with pathaikkara village on the north and west sides, While Angadippuram village, Pulamanthole village, Elamkulam village and Perinthalmanna village shares its boundary at the western side of the village.

Socio-Economic

Most of the people of the village rely upon agricultural activities.. Mainly paddy cultivation, rubber plantation etc, influence of Gulf economy also plays a vital role in the socio-economic moulding of the society. About 20 percentage of the society are daily labours nearby town Perinthalmanna for their bread. More than 60 percentage of the community belongs to Muslims ,35 percentage are Hindus and 5 percentage Christians. Communal harmony of the village remarkable. Pathaikkara vishnu temple, Subrahmanyam temple, Pathaikkara Juma Masjid, Kunnapally JUma Masjid are considered as the very ancient worship centres of the village.Due to its historical importance and rare mural paintings and sculptures inscribed in the Eravimangalam Subrahmanyam temple are worthless, Archaeological survey of India has taken over the monuments and listed under protected mounaments. Pathaikkara Juma Masjid considered as the historical pillar of the village.

Ecology

This village observes a moderate climate. Heavy rainfall in monsoon season and moderate drought in summer season. Places such as Olinkara and Karuvetty suffers shortage of water during summer season. Olimkara Chola, Kunnapally streams are the major water channels in the village.

Tourism

Kulirmala is the important hilly area of the village where a thumb nail of the town can be previewed.this famous pathaikkara mana situated in pathaikkra desom of this village .The famous subhramannia swami temple is situated in eravimangalam desom of this village.
