About Village

This is one of the ancient villages in the Changanasserry Taluk in Kottayam District. Nedumkunnam was the centre of trade and commerce in the area for nearly two centuries. The taluk (local government) headquarters is located in Changanacherry and the District headquarters in Kottayam.

Population as per 2011 census is 22394 male-10848 Female11546

Geography

Major portion of Nedumkunnam Village contains Nedumkunnam Grama Pnchayath and the rest is Karukachal GramaPanchayath. No Major Rivers Flows through this Village and the village is completly agricultural land and hilly areas contains rubber agricuture. Paddy land is not here. No forest land nearby. Sight-seeing destinations include are Mulamala, Chathanpara, Puliyalackalpara and Nilampodinja.

Socio-Economic

Once main income source was agriculture and related jobs. There is now three higher seconadry schools in Public sector.Two Collages in Private sector. Higher Ecocational Growth. No Major Settlements or colonies here. No Industries here. People belongs to different religion living here in harmoney. The presence of ST is too small.

Ecology

Agricultural land in hilly areas. Major Portion of this village is water sufficient.Local people mostly work as farmers, cultivating cash crops such as rubber and black pepper, and food crops such as coconut,cassava and plantain.

Tourism

No major Tourist places or destination here. But this ia on the way to Erumely and Sabarimala for people from Changanassery and Alappuzha area. Puzhukku Nercha Celebrated each year inassociated with the St Johns Ferona church Perunnal. People gathered irrespective of religion and it represent communal harmoney. Meenapooram and Medapooram Conducted each year in Nedukunnam Bhadrakali Temple. Kavadiyattom is famous and attracts the public.
