About Village

It is believed that Changanassery and its environs were under the sea in prehistoric times. The remains of marine life found in recent excavations at places like Vazhappally give credence to this belief. Scholars believe that the great beach of Perum Naithal became Perunna over time, that the Chrei Chenga- vellam near the sea became Changanassery, and that the Payal pattiya payalpadu near the sea became Paippad. The land was also kown as Payattupadu, it is also believed that Pathippadam gradually became Paippad.

Demography

As of 2001 India census, Paippad had a population of 19,281 with 9,475 males and 9,806 females. Paippad is also famous for being the second largest residential space for north Indian migrant workforce after Ernakulam.

Geography

Paippad village covers about half of the land area of Payipad panchayat and some part of Thrikkodithanam panchayath.The northern part of this village is bordered byThrickodithanam village, the eastern part by Kunnanthanam and Kaviyoor villages, the southern part by Peringara village and the western part by Changanacherry village.

Socio-Economic

Village has alarge populationof migrant labourers especially from West Bengal .Many of the economic activities are related to the migrant population.as awhole the people belong to the middle class.

Ecology

The village has a mixed ecology of wet and dry land streams etc.most of the paddy fields remain uncultivated.

Tourism

There is no tourist spot in this village.
