About Village

Pulimath village belongs to Chirayinkil Taluk in Thiruvananthapuram District and its concerned local body is Pulimath Grama Panchayath. Before independence the village administration was under the control of Travancore Rajas. Before that Naduvazhis and Land lords ruled the province. About 80 years before the area was under the threat of wild animals especially Leopard.At that time the area was covered by dense forest.Out of fear the people worshiped a deity called PULIMATHA to escape from the attack of the leopards. From that the word PULIMATH is derived. The deity worshiping place is now known as Pulimath Devi Temple. Two historically important rivers viz, Vamanapuram and Chittar flowing through the village. Due to the course of the rivers ,some valleys formed and people began to settle here mainly for agriculture. The village office building is situated near Karette Junction.In front of the village MC Road is passing.The neighbouring villages sharing borders with Pulimath village are Pazhayakunnummel, Koduvazhanoor, Vamanapuram,Kallara and Kummil. Kottarakkara and Nedumangadu Taluks sharing boundaries with Pulimath Village. Many other public and private offices, educational institutions,two hospitals are functioning here.

Demography

According to Census 2011, Total population in Pulimath Village Is 24902. Out of this Female-13527 Male - 11375 Birth and Death rate are almost in a balanced stage.

Geography

Geographically pulimath village area can be classified as hilly,mountainous,valley,plains and marshy regions. Rubber,Coconut,Pepper,Cashew are the important plantation crops. The valleys and plains are suitable for the cultivation of paddy,coconut,tapioca , plantains etc. The Vamanapuram River is flowing through the southernmost part of the village. A tributary of Vamanapuram River by name Chittar is flowing through the west boundary of Pulimath village and ultimately merged into the Vamanapuram River. The village is exclusively an agricultural village. Half of the village area belongs to Plains . About 60 years before Cyclone,flood,landslide became a common phenomenon. Now it become rare.

Socio-Economic

The people in Pulimath village are living harmoniously irrespective of cast and creed. Hindus,Muslims,Christians are the major religions. Most of the people are educated. Several educational institutions are available including a High School and a Polytechnic. The economic sector of the village includes agriculture, cattle rearing,small scale business etc. Small scale industries like brick industry,tile industry,cashew industry,hollow bricks industry etc are also exist here. The place Karette is the main trade and commercial centre in the village.Once upon a time transportation throughout the village had been heavy risk. Now roads have constructed in every nuke and corners of the village. The Main Central road is passing through the village.

Ecology

Ecologically the village is not in the fragile zone. The region is ecologically friendly for human beings ,animals, birds etc. Two important rivers ,several canals,ponds,streams,semi forest like areas, paddy fields,,rocky areas-all makes the ecosystem well balanced and pollution free.

Tourism

Kadalukanipara, a potential tourism spot is situated in Pulimath village. The spot is approximately 700 metres from Thalikkuzhi junction in Karette-Kallara road.The greenery,a misty hill,,the valley,the exotic sunset,and the cool and comfortable ambience make the spot a fascinating scenery.It is an example of hill tourism.There is also a temple at the top of the hill. The Kadalukanipara is the highest spot in Pulimath village.
