Kattappana Village is located in Idukki Taluk. 42646 People are living in this Village ( 21159 males and 21487 females as per 2011 census ) Expected population of Kattappana by 2021end is 52000. Literate people are 36418 ( out of which 18221 are male and 18197 are female ) People living in Kattappana depend on multiple skills. Total workers are 18330 out of which men are 12196 and women are 6134. Total approximate number of cultivators is 3073. Cultivators primarily depend on agriculture farming.

Latitude and longitude coordinates are: 9.756835, 77.116867. Kattappana is a large town in Idukki District situated almost near the border with Tamil Nadu. The population of the town is close to 46,000 people. Kattappana is a commercial town, with moderate population density. The area is also famous with cultivating, producing and selling spices, including cardamom, black pepper, and so on.

Socio-Economic

People migrated to this place mainly during 1950s from different parts of nearby townships like Pala, Kottayam etc. However, there were inhabitants even before 100 years. The main occupation is cultivation of commercial crops and spices like tea, coffee, pepper, cardamom, black pepper, and the majority of them are farmers.[

The climate of Kattappana falls under the Koppen climate classification. The place normally experiences a moderate climate. The humidity rises from the month of March to April and mid May. The average annual temperature here is 23 °C. The months of June, July, August and October receives significant amount of rainfall. November and December are the coldest months in the year

Tourism

Although there are no approved tourist destinations, the Nariyampara Triple Water Falls, Mettukkuzhy View Point and distant view of Idukki Reservoir from Kalyanathandu Hill Ranges are worth seeing.
