About Village

Located on Medical college - Kazhakoottam road in Sreekaryam junction,the village has a cosmopolitan aura with its viscinity to Technopark. It is located 3 km North of Ulloor on the old NH 47 and is about 11km away from Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station. University Of Kerala, Karyavattom is situated in this village. Chembazanthy, the birth place of Sree Narayana Guru , a tourist place is 4km away from Sreekaryam junction and All India Radio is also situated here. Pangappara Health Center a unit of Medical College provides medical help to the natives. The entire area in Pangappara village comes under Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation limit. There are three Municipal wards in the village namely, Sreekaryam, Chempazhanthy and Chellamangalam .The village shares its borders with Cheruvakkal, Ulloor, Uliyazhthura, Attipra and Kazhakootam.

Geography

Pangappara village is situated on the southern side of NH 47 at Sreekaryam Junction. It is easily accessible. The topography of the village is generally plane with an average altitude of 20m above sea level. No reserve forests are found in this area.

Socio-Economic

This is a place where people from different culture live. People from other states also live here. Literacy rate is very high. Professionals from many fields especially Medical and IT professionals live in this village. KSEB substation established at Sreekaryam is the main source of electric supply for the entire village. Water pumping units of Kerala Water Authority at Pongummoodu is engaged in supplying water throughout the village .

Ecology

The area is a fertile breeding ground for variety of plants and trees. Coconut palms is to be seen everywhere and so are the plantains. Several ponds and water bodies are being protected in this village. Wetlands are being strictly conserved.

Tourism

Chempazhanthy - Birth place of Sree Narayana Guru, the social reformer and father of renaissance,is 4km away from Sreekaryam junction. The house of Guru which is named as Vayalvaram veedu is well maintained and is a place of tourist attraction.
