Paingatteri Agraharam

There is a settlement of Tamil Brahmins situated about 7 km from Mananthavady, known as Paingatteri Agraharam. The houses are constructed here in rows adhering to the classic architectural style. The dwellers of this Agraharam are said to have the lineage from those Brahmins who migrated from Tanjavur in Tamil Nadu. They came as the cooks of the royal Kottayam dynasty and later settled in Wayanad. The rural and quaint ambience at the Agraharam attracts a lot of visitors and they can also see a temple on the premises of the Agraharam.

Nalloornad is a village near Mananthavady in Wayanad district in the state of Kerala, India.

Demography

As of 2001 India census, Nalloornad had a population of 15548 with 7920 males and 7628 females.

The total geographical area of village is 2216 hectares.

Socio-Economic

Agriculture is the backbone of the economy of the Village. Most of the lands in the area are used for agriculture purpose. More than half of its population are encaged in agriculture in order to earn their livelihood. Another source of economy in the Village is the cattle Farming.

Ecology

Wayanad district in Kerala is part of the Western Ghats which is one the biodiversity hot spots of the world. The western slopes of the Ghats have a natural cover of evergreen forest, which changes to moist and then dry deciduous types as one comes to the eastern slopes. The vegetation reaches its highest diversity towards the southern tip in Kerala with its high statured, rich tropical rain forests.
