History and Importance of Chennithala village Chennithala village is one of the smallest villages in Mavelikara taluk. Achankovil river flows through Chennithala village. The very nearest railway station in chennithala village is Mavelikara railway station. Chennithala village consists mainly of paddy fields and coconut groves. Many people make a living by fishing. Chennithala is a village where Hindus and Christians live . There are many Hindu temples in this village. Christians of all denominations have their place of worship in chennithala village. An orphanage is functioning in chennithala village with the objective of protecting the orphans. Chennithala village has a “Palliyodam” which participates in the “Aranmula Uthrattadhi Jalolstavam” held in Aranmula during the Onam season. Chennithala “Palliyodam” travels around 85 KM through different waterways to reach Aranmula. This is the most distant “Palliyodam” attending “Aranmula Uthrattadhi Jalolstavam”. Descendants of the Travanore and Kochi royal family is living here. A ritual called “uthradakizhi” is performed in this village. “uthradakizhi” is a token amount provided to the members of the erstwhile royal family on the occasion of the Uthradam day. The amount will be handedover by the Tahsildar through Village Officer. Sri. Gopalan Nair who was a Kathakali actor was lived in this village.memorial functions are held every year in his memory. Sri.Subhanandasramam is the first famous Asramam in chennithala village especially in Mavelikara Taluk. Pathamudaya maholsavam, Annadanam and Kudam Pooja are held in this Asramam every year. Many people participating this ceremonies without considering their religion and caste. A boat race called “Mother Teresa boat race” is also being held in Chennithala village There is an Agricultural Co.operative bank is functioning in this village for the betterment of the farmers. The famous Jawahar Navodaya Vidhyalayam is functioning in Chennithala village St.Mary’s Orthodox church( Karuthedathu Pally) is one of the ancient and popular church in Chennithala village. Karazhma Devi Temple is one of the famous temples in Chenithala village. A famous festival called “Areeppara” is held at the temple every year.
