Thalappuzha, Thavinhal or Thavinjal, is a village in Wayanad district in the state of Kerala, India.

Demography

As of 2001 India census, Thavinhal had a population of 16766 with 8301 males and 8465 females.

Geography

Geographically, Thavinhal village occupies an important position. The Village itself is a view of Hills, Valleys, Green Estates and Creeks. Mananthavady Kannur road passes through the heart of Thavinhal Village and the river wich starts from Makkimala of this village enjoins with Kabani river, one of the two rivers, which flows towards east in Kerala. Village borders with Mananthavady, Thirunelly, Valad and Periya Villages.

Socio-Economic

Socially, 99 percentage of people engage in agricultural activities like farming, banana plantation, pepper plantation and Ginger plantation. A few farmers cultivate Ginger in Karnataka State. Eventhough, the new generation seeks opportunities abroad with thei passion to get a job abroad.

Ecology

Ecologically the Village is very important. Village is blessed with plethora of natural beauty. Creeks, Trees , Bamboos are seen in abundance. Village is renowned with Royal Trees like Teak and Rosewood. A good area of Village is Covered by Forest and Greenish Tea estates.

Tourism

Muneeswaran Hill (Muneswarankunnu) is the important tourist spot in the Village. It is one of the highest hills in the Village . Here the fog creeps down to the top of hills in the evenings . Exciting breeze may squeeze us with enchanting view of valleys from the top. It is believed that Sreerama rested in that place on the way in search of abducted Seetha. A small temple situates on the top of the hill.It is a best ecological tourist spot in the District. Now the gate pass is controlled by the Forest department. Greenish tea estates could be seen in the village. Fog mating with Blue hills in the tea estate is maddenning experience in winter season.
