About Village
Kallodi, the headquarters of Edavaka Village, was formerly a forested area. There was a hill called Chorankunnu which is a part of Mananthavadi Pakranthalam hill. Thieves in the area would attack the road from Kozhikode to Mananthavady as it traversed its main route.The merchants kept the stones to escape the attack and threw them at the thieves and fled. It is said that this is how the place got its name Kallodi.

According to the 2011 census, the village has a population of 16,737, of which 8,245 are males and 8,492 are females.

The total geographical area of Edavaka village is 2514 hectares.
Socio-Economic
The main occupation of the people is agriculture and animal husbandry. Rice, banana, coffee and pepper are the major crops grown in the area.Tribal colonies exist in many parts of the village. They have to go further socially, economically and educationally and continue to live in a state of tribal identity.
