About Village
Vandenmedu is one of the 18 villages under Udumbanchola Taluk in Idukki District and is world.s largest auction centre for Cardamom. Vandenmedu Village constructed in 1898-99 boasts a history of only one village in Kerala which owns a rifle.

Geography
It has a hilly terrain with a cool climate and is situated 24km away from sub-district headquarter Nedumkandam and 45km away from district headquarter Painavu and mostly surrounded by Cardamom Plantation and Tea Plantation.
Socio-Economic
Various sections of Christianity, Hinduism and Muslims co-exist harmoniously. Income is mainly from Tourism, Tea and Cardamom Plantation.
