Thevalakkara is derived from " Devalokakkara" ie The Land of Gods.Thevalakkara is the land contains a famous Devi temple along with mosque and church in the same area. Thevalakkara is very famous in Kerala history connected with Portuguese attack in Thevalakkara temples and Orthodox Church in 1544. The area of the village is 15.71sqkm.

As per population census 2011, the total poulation of the Thevalakkara village is 42,977. ie Males - 20278 & females - 22699.
