About Village
Poopara is one of the 18 villages under Udumbanchola Taluk in Idukki District which came into existence by bifurcation of Santhanpara and Poopara Village as per GO(MS) No.142/85/RD dtd 12.02.1985. Thondimala ,Thalkkulam, Anayirangal and Poopara Thavalams are comprising in Poopara Village
Demography
As of 2011 India census, Poopara had a population of 8,231 with 4,137 males and 4,094 females
Geography
It has a hilly terrain with a cool climate and is situated 33 km away from sub-district headquarter Nedumkandam and 64 km away from district headquarter Painavu and mostly surrounded by Tea Plantation. It shares boundary with Theni District of Tamilnadu State and connects to Tamilnadu State through Poopara - Bodymettu Road (NH 85)
Socio-Economic
Various sections of Christianity, Hinduism and Muslims co-exist harmoniously. Income is mainly from Tourism and Tea Plantation Labour.
