Venkitangu -Irimbranellur-Kundazhiyur Village is located in the Mullassery block of Chavakkad taluk, Thrissur district in the Indian state of Kerala. It belongs to Central Kerala Division . It is located 14 KM towards west from District head quarters Thrissur.286 KM from State capital Thiruvananthapuram.

Demography

Venkitangu village is, in district of Thrissur, Kerala. The Venkitangu has population of 11,335 of which 5,204 are males while 6,131 are females as per report released by Census India 2011. Population of Children with age of 0-6 is 1160 which is 10.23 % of total population of Venkitangu (CT). In Venkitangu Census Town, Female Sex Ratio is of 1178 against state average of 1084. Moreover Child Sex Ratio in Venkitangu is around 930 compared to Kerala state average of 964. Literacy rate of Venkitangu is 95.85 % higher than state average of 94.00 %. In Venkitangu, Male literacy is around 97.70 % while female literacy rate is 94.33 %.

Geography

The village is bounded on the east by Kolnilam, on the west by Kanolikanal, on the south by Enamavu river and on the north by Mullassery village. Enamakkal Lake (Kanoli Kanal) is a fresh water lake situated in Enamakkal in Venkitangu village. The Keecheri River and Viyyoor River joins Enamakkal Lake. The Enamavu Kettu or bund has been created to prevent the fresh water of the lake from mixing with salty seawater.

Socio-Economic

Agriculture is the main source of livelihood for the people of this region. Dense coconut groves and lush green paddy fields make the area rich and scenic. Karuvanthala Temple, Patoor Juma Masjid and Enamavu Mosque, built in the 500th century AD, are some of the ancient places of worship. Irimpranelloor Karthiyani Temple, Enamakkal Juma Masjid in Kettungal and the pilgrimage center of Konchira Pompemata are some of the oldest places of worship.

Ecology

Dense coconut groves and lush green paddy fields make the area rich and scenic.
