About Village

Neendakara village is famous by its Harbour and coastal area . In Malayalam, Neendakara means "a long bank" as it is one of the longest port in Kerala. Neendakara is 30 km north of Paravur and 14 km south of Karunagappally town. History says that When Portuguese traders settled in Kollam (then Quilon) in the early 16th century, their ships passed through the Neenadakara bar, now the site of Neendakara Bridge, part of National Highway 66, which connects the village to Sakthikulangara across Ashtamudi Lake.

Neendakara village is located about 9 km north of district headquarters Kollam . Eastern side - Ashtamudi lake and TS Canal, Western side -Arabian Sea, Northern side -TS Canal and Chavara Bridge, Southern side - Arabian Sea, Ashtamudi lake and Neendakara Bridge

Neendakara Sea Port, Pulimuttu, Ashtamudi View Point are the major destination points of tourists. Neendakara sea port is one of the biggest in the state, with the capacity to contain over 500 fishing boats at a time.
