About Village
The place is blessed with the presence of Lord Shiva with Shiva temple. From the belief, there is a place named "yagabhumi"(where the Yagna took place), in Kankol Village. Formerly name of the place was Kapilan Kovval and which is shortened as Kankol.
Demography
As of 2001 India census, Kankol had a population of 9,747. Males constitute 48% of the population and females 52%. Kankol has an average literacy rate of 97%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 98%, and female literacy is 96%. In Kankol, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.
