Perinthalmanna - the largest city in Malappuram District - is one of the fastest growing city in Malabar Region with a growth rate in par with the higher tier cities. Popularly known as the Medical City of Kerala, Perinthalmanna is now on a race to its unique place for being a front runner in the next generation Commercial Educational, Sports & Cultural hotspot in Kerala.

Demography

As per the Population Census 2011, there are total 10,287 families residing in the Perinthalmanna city. The total population of Perinthalmanna is 49,723 out of which 23,542 are males and 26,181 are females thus the Average Sex Ratio of Perinthalmanna is 1,112. The population of Children of age 0-6 years in Perinthalmanna city is 6426 which is 13% of the total population. There are 3203 male children and 3223 female children between the age 0-6 years. Thus as per the Census 2011 the Child Sex Ratio of Perinthalmanna is 1,006 which is less than Average Sex Ratio (1,112). As per the Census 2011, the literacy rate of Perinthalmanna is 95.3%. Thus Perinthalmanna has higher literacy rate compared to 93.6% of Malappuram district. The male literacy rate is 96.46% and the female literacy rate is 94.23% in Perinthalmanna.
