Mayyil Village is situated about 20 Km northeast of Kannur muncipal area.Geographically this Village has easy and separate access to important places such as Taliparamba, Parassinikkadavu, Mattannur Airport etc of Kunnur District.This village falls under Taliparamba Legislative Assembly Constituency and Kannur parliament Constituency . Kilometres of Pazhassi Canal , a part of Pazhassi Irrigation Project and Gail Pipe Line go through this village.

Geography
Mayyil Village is one of the two villages in Mayyil Grama panchayath.It is situated in the south side of Mayyil town and shares its boundaries with Kayaralam , Kolachery , Maniyoor and Kuttyattur Villages. There is no river in this village. The paddy fields in this Villages with rich water sources are well known for high paddy production.

Weaving was a main source of lively hood for many families . Even now a number of families opted weaving as their source of income.
