About Village

Thimiri village is located in Taliparamba Tehsil of kannur district in kerala,India.It is situated 32 km away from sub district head quarter Taliparamba and 60Km away from district headquarter kannur.as per 2009 stats ,chapparapadavu is the gram panchayat of thimiri village. There are mainly three blocks 62,63,64 of taliparamba taluk namely Thalavil, Thadikkadav and Thimisi desams. Major places are vimalassery, manikkal, karimkayam, therthally, pachani, etc. One of the main speciality of Thimiri village as it belongs to both Irikkur and Taliparamba legislative Assembly.

Demography

As of 2011 India census, Thimiri village had total population of 18,044 which constitutes 8,825 males and 9,219 females. Thimiri village spreads over an area of 47.3 km2 under Chapparapadavu and Alakode Panchayats with 4,497 families residing in it. The sex ratio of Thimiri was 1044 lower than state average of 1084. Population in the age group 0-6 was 1,711 (9.5%) where 884 are males and 827 are females. Thimiri had overall literacy of 94.3% where male literacy stands at 96.7% and female literacy was 92%.

Geography

The total geographical area of village is 4730 hectares. Major part of village are hill tops of Western ghut. Famous kuppam river flows through this village. There are so many hanging bridges across the river. Both wet and dry lands are seen in the village.

Socio-Economic

Thimiri is one of the major centers of malabar migration. Hindu, Muslim, Christian communities lives here with a religious harmony. Most people engaged in agriculture. Most families are rubber planters. There are so many educational institutions here.. Both govt and aided schools are here.

Ecology

Village is rich of flora and fauna. There are so many places trasure trove of biodiversity. Pandrandamchal pakshi sanketham of thadikkadav is agreatest example for the varieties of birds seen there. Most of places are hilly regions of Western ghut.
