Has a total area of 619.8244 hectares. Land is divided into seven geographical blocks (karas), namely Chittattukara, Neendoor, Pooyappilli, Pattanam, Alamthuruth, Muravanthuruth and Kunjithai.

Demography

According to 2011 census, has a population density of 3175, with a sex ratio of 1044.

Geography

Bordered on the east by Moothakunnam village, East and west by Paravoor village and on the west by Kochi backwaters.

Socio-Economic

Important jobs are boat making and fishing.

Ecology

Cris-crossed by rivulets, lagoons, backwaters and interconnecting channels, village is divided into numerous islands. Backwaters are often utilized for a specialized form of aquaculture - seasonally rotated farming of prawns and saline-tolerant variety of rice (Pokkali). Brackish water bodies are abundant with natural mangroves. Major natural crop is coconut.
