About Village
Balal Village office was formed in 1986 as per GO(MS) No.842/85/RD dated 08.05.1985 .Earlier part of Maloth village having 3873.36 hectors extent situated in Balal Panchayath of Kasaragod District.
Demography
As per the Census of 2011 total population is 9647.Out of this 4791 are males and 4856 are females.
Geography
Major part of village are hill tract areas.It includes vested forest of 399 hectors and Sugandhavahini Thodu.
Socio-Economic
Scheduled tribes sections are predominantly includes in balal village.Main tribes are Malavettuan and Mavilan.Hindhu,Christian and Muslim believers living unitedly in village.Most of the people are migrants from Southern districts.Main income is from agriculture.
Ecology
Very sensitive ecology.Includes many ecologically fragile areas.Rich in herbs and woods.
Tourism
Wide scope for hill tourism and trucking.Neelambari resorts at Maruthom is one resort already exist in village.Edakkanam hill is another area for hill tourism.
