It is located 19 km towards north from district head quarters Kollam and 6 km from sub-district head quarters Karunagappally, 90 KM from State capital Thiruvananthapuram .

Inhabitants of the Village include fishermen, labourers , private employees and govt. employees. A decade ago, most of the people were engaged in coir production process as a cottage industry.

The land is suitable mainly for cultivation of crops such as Coconut, Arecanut, Tapioca, Rice, Pepper and all kinds of vegetables. Since it is a flood free region, cultivation of crops is rather easy.
Tourism
Nowadays houseboat, safari boat and speed-boat services are operated from Kannetty boat club which 1 km apart from Karunagappally KSRTC bus stand
