About Village
Irikkur is a small village in Kannur District. Both Village and Grama Panchayath holds the same boundaries. It is a place of historic and commercial importance and is one of the largest Mappila Muslim majority towns in Kannur district. It lies on the banks of the Irikkur River. This river is the geographical border of Taliparamba and Thalassery Taluks. It also shares the border with Iritty Taluk.
Demography
According to 2011 census data, Irikkur is a Census Town and has a population of 13,820 of which 6,690 are males while 7,130 are females. Irikkur village spreads over 11.38 Square Kilometers and have more than 2,327 houses . The literacy rate of Irikkur is 92.03 percent
Geography
Irikkur town is about 29 kilometers away from Kannur and have direct access from almost all major towns in Kannur district like Thalassery, Taliparamba, Sreekandapuram, Mattannur, Iritty, and Chalode. It shares boundary with Padiyoor on the east side, Malappattam on the west, Kalliad and Sreekandapuram on the north side. Southern side of the Village is Irikkur river.
