Nooranad Village is situated in Mavelikara Taluk, Alappuzha District of Kerala State with an area of 1870 Hectares 71 Ares 37 sq. Metres Padanilam is the cultural center of Nooranad. The Prabrahma temple is situated in Nooranad. It is one of the most important centers of worship in Kerala. Kettukazhcha-a procession of two huge oxen is carried out here as a part of Padanilam Shivratri. The word Padanilam means land of battles.

Geography

Nooranad is a part of Onattukara cultural region. It is located on the banks of river Achankovil. Nooranad village is bounded by Achankovil river in the north, Pandalam Muncipality and Palamel in east, Thamarakulam in the south and Chunakkara and Vettiyar in the west.Before formation of Alappuzha District, Nooranad was a part of Kollam District. At the time a Revenue Division was formed with Nooranad as center and was named as Nooranad Sub District. When Alappuzha District was formed on 17th August 1957, Nooranad became a part of it.

Socio-Economic

Prominent educational institutions are situated in Nooranad village.

Tourism

The village is famous for its beautiful agricultural fields like Karingali Puncha and Peruvelichal Puncha. The Pattoormalamukal is the highest point in the village with an altitude of 121m above the sea level.
