Pulinkunnu is an island village in kuttanad Taluk of Alappuzha District in Kerala.
Demography
As per 2011 census total population of 15210 in which male population is 7368 and female population is 7842.
Geography
The land lies below the sea level which in itself is a unique feature. Inhabited lands are about two to four feet below the sea level and the rice-paddy fields about ten feet below. Rivers, Backwaters and canals form part of the village.
Socio-Economic
The inhabitants of this village traditionally depends mainly of agriculture and fishing.
Ecology
Being a land below the sea level the area is affected by floods during monsoon almost every year. Tides play a role in increasing the level of water adding to the miseries of people already affected by floods.
Tourism
Back-water tourism gained momentum with the introduction of modern House Boats. Traditional religious centers in pulinkunnu also attracts tourists.
