It is situated 4 km away from taluk head quarter Tiruvalla and 33 km from district headquarter ,Pathanamthitta.This village consists of wards no.1,2,3,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15 of Peringara grama panchayath.

As per the census of 2011 this village have a population of 15038 .Peoples of this village belongs to Hindus,Christions, and Islam.Major portion of the people are farmers and agricultural laboures.Paddy is the main crop and also people make a living from inland fishing,cattle rearing ,duck farming ,poultery etc are seen .
Geography
This village is a part of upper kuttanadu where paddy cultivation being the main crop. Pampa river is flowing through the Chathenkery region of this village.Most part of this village are paddy land and are affected by flood every year.There are several canals and water shed places across this village.
