Teekoy village inaugurated on 22/05/1987. This village situated at Erattupetta - Peerumedu State high way neer Teekoy Panchayath Junction.

Demography

As per the Census India 2011, Teekoy village has population of 17149 of which 8570 are males and 8629 are females.

Geography

Teekoy has features of both midland countryside and the Malanad hill area. The place is known for its agriculture and landscape. It is full of hills and valleys in the middle of which flows the Meenachil river.

Socio-Economic

Most of the people are farmers and they cultivate rubber, elachi, ginger, cardamom, clove, nutmeg, turmeric, pepper, cashew and other spices. A considerable variety of medicinal plants also grow in Teekoy which have been used in making the traditional home remedies. A sizable proportion of the population is Syrian Christians (Syro-Malabar Catholic), but there is also a large minority of Muslims and Hindus. There is a small colony of converted Dalit Christians among the community as well. There are also some third- and fourth-generation Tamil people, descendants of workers who came to work in the rubber plantations in Teekoy many decades ago.

Ecology

There is a tropical rainforest, and trees like teak and jackfruit are found in the Western Ghats region growing alongside coconut, rubber, arecanut, and other crops. The first large-scale rubber plantation in India was established in Teekoy.

Tourism

Marmala waterfall is located in Teekoy village near Erattupetta in Kottayam district. The waterfall is a hidden treasure, 7 km away from Erattupetta town and 16 km away from Vagamon. Though not much popular, Marmala Waterfall offers a really attractive and pleasing view to the beholders, the tourists. The waterfall is about 60 meters in height, falling into a 12-meter deep pool and joins the river on way down. The falls are very dangerous and not recommended for taking bath but the river is an ideal place for taking bath. Marmala waterfall is a place for trekkers and adventure lovers, the dense jungle before the waterfall gives a trekking experience to its tourists. The waterfall offers splendid view of the natural beauty of an ideal waterfall.
