About Village

Aroor Village is situated at the northern end of Alappuzha District(Cherthala Taluk) and acts as the southern entry point to Kochi city. The name "Aroor"is believed to be originated from "Arayarude Oor" which means the place of Fishermen.Aroor Village was a part of Kottayam District before the formation of Alappuzha District.

Demography

As of 2011 indian census, Aroor had a population of around 40000 of which males constitute 49% of the population and females 51%. Aroor Village is growing as a sattelite city of Kochi City

Geography

Aroor Village lies on the both sides of National Highway 66 at the south end of Vyttila Bye pass.Aroor village is situated apporoximately 15 kilometers from Vyttila

Socio-Economic

Sea food Exports is a major industry of aroor village due to the presence of backwaters.The abundance of marine,backwater wealth and logistical advantages have helped the sea food exports to grow.There are many marine food processing units situated in aroor village which provides employment to a number of native people.
