About Village

Edarikode is a Village in Tirurangadi Taluk in Malappuram District. It belongs to North Kerala Division.The village was formed by bifurcating Thennala village in December, 2013. The village office located about 250 meter from Edarikode junction, which is in the NH 66 (Calicut- Thrissur NH) towards Tirur road. It is located 14 KM towards west from District head quarters Malappuram and 2 KM from Vengara. Village office is near to Edarikkode panchayath and Veterinary Hospital works in the same building of the village. Edarikkode village shares boundaries with Kottakkal, Parappur, Thennala, Kalpakanchery and Perummanna villages. Ayurveda dispensary, CHC Edarikkode, Edarikkode panchayath, Veterinary hospitals are the major government offices in the village. Edarikkode was a part of old Malabar district of Madras presidency.

Demography

Total population of Edarikkode village is 30000 as per the 2011 Census. Muslims are the majorities in the village followed by Hindus and very few Christians.

Geography

The village is a part of Midland. The average elevation of village from sea level is 10 meter. No specific geographic character can be noted in village.

Socio-Economic

Since number of villagers works as emigrants in gulf countries, social and economic status of villagers is good. Many of the rest of the villagers works as farmers and daily wagers.
