About Village

Manjeri was once the headquarters and the military centre of the Kingdom of Mysore under Tipu Sultan. Under British rule, Manjeri served as the administrative headquarters of Eranad subdistrict, which was the largest subdistrict within the Malabar District.Manjeri was once the headquarters of the former administrators of Mysore, it also was a famous site of the Moplah Revolt of 1921 and the birthplace of legendary freedom fighters like Variamkunnath Kunjahammed Haji.

Demography

The village Manjeri falls in Malappuram district situated in Kerala state, with a population 30759. The male and female populations are 14943 and 15816 respectively. The size of the area is about 13.77 square kilometer. The Muslims form the largest religious group, followed by Hindus and Christians.[16] The municipality of Manjeri has an average literacy rate of 95.8%.

Manjeri is a town in the district of Malappuram. It is the commercial capital of Malappuram District. Manjeri was a live centre of the Indian National Movements. Manjeri is the one of the keralas biggest Municipality.The size of the area is about 13.77 square kilometer.Manjeri is located at 11.12°N 76.12°E.It has an average elevation of 38 metres (124 feet) from sea level.

Manjeri is a major town and municipality in Malappuram district, Kerala, India. It is the fourth-most populous municipality in state. It is situated 23 kilometres (14 mi) southeast to Karipur International Airport and 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) northeast to Malappuram, the district headquarters, and forms a part of Malappuram metropolitan area. It is one of the major commercial towns under the Malappuram urban agglomeration and serves as the headquarters of Eranad Taluk.[5] Manjeri Municipality is a Local Self Government Institution with a jurisdiction of three villages namely Manjeri, Payyanad, and Narukara.Most of the residents of Manjeri perform agriculture and trade and business as their way of income. There are also individuals who work in abroad countries to obtain income.
